Stop SOPA and PIPA!

Had a few people ask me about SOPA at work and I figured I would post about it since I can't just say "Go to Wikipedia" since it will be Dark for another 24 hours. But basicly there is a couple bills that are being discussed tomarrow (that is why a lot of sites like Wikipedia) will dark or have modified logos. They are the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect Intellectual Properties Act (PIPA) the bills themselves have good intentions, allowing the companies to go after foreign sites like Pirate Bay. At the moment, they can't.

The problem is there is the very real concern that these bill, if passed, could lead to censoring the internet. The reason is because some of the ways that they would prevent internet piracy are the same ways countries like China censor the internet. Not only that, but it could also open the door to more control by the government and groups like the MPAA. at the moment they are just going after piracy sites, but they could easily target anything they want, just as MEAW or even guys who do parody songs like Weird Al, even though none of them are illegal! (in fact there have been several court cases, including by the Supreme Court, that found that parodies are perfectly legal.)

The really funny thing is that they won't actually work. People who know what they are doing will still be able to get to these sites. it will just make it harder for everyone else to get to them. so it won't actually effect the people who use them a lot. but like I said, there is the very real concern that other sites could be blocked for what ever reason some CEO in Hollywood can think of that would effect the people who don't know how to get around this.

There is some good news. the White House is opposed to large portions of these bills (whether that is due to pressure from oposition groups or because Obama genuinly doesn't like them is unknown) and they are being shelved for the time being until they can work out the problems with them. They have not been killed though. repeat THEY HAVE NOT BEEN KILLED!!!! The bills are still out there, waiting to be re-done. Probably buried in some other bill that wil go through or renamed in such a way that it will seem like a different bill.

Obviously this is a big problem. And the only way to stop it is to appeal to our elected officials desire to be re-elected and not have to do actual work. If enough of us let them know that we do not support these bills, maybe they will fear for their jobs and oppose it as well. so contact them. If you don't know how to, go to Wikipedia. On the main page there is a box to type your zipcode into that will give you info on how to contact them. and if it is after 1/18/2012 when you read this, you can go to the EFF's website ( here is a direct link to the page you need)

Tell the people WE put in charge that we do not support this bill! Only by working together can we hope get through to them.

Insomnia VS Mr Unisom

So, last night (or more accurately this morning)I was lying in bed awake yet again. Insomnia had reared it's ugly head once again. But this time I could fight back! I didn't have to work today! So that means I can sleep as long as I need/want!! So I took some Unisom. Or more accurately the Walmart Store Brand version of Unisom. And before I passed out (I actually did mid post) I went on Twitter while I waited for it to kick in and posted the following.

I hate Xbox live this time of year. Every year around Christmas they have a bunch of daily sails. "12 Days of Savings" for lack of a better description. Some times they aren't much different from their weekly sales; 50% off whatever is on sale. But some times they are better, and it is always stuff that was released recently. Just look at the list of purchases I've made over the years off live and the number sky rockets this time of year. Some times that is good. Got Braid and Limbo last year. and I've gotten some great games like Monday Night Combat that I probably wouldn't have gotten. But some times it is bad too. for example, I want Ms. 'Splosion Man, but I decided to wait till it went on sale, knowing that at the very least it would be on sale during the last couple weeks of the year. But I want to play the full version now!other times it is annoying. For example today's deal is on Fallout add-ons. nothing wrong with that, but I have all the ones for Fallout 3. If I didn't have the ones from New Vegas from when they were on sale a few months ago, it would be a waste of a day for me, because I have them.Oh well. better toss more points in the account. 3 days down, 9 more and lots of purchases to go

So cell phone service providers like Verizon and AT&T have decided to start charging people for the amount of data they use on their smart phones (article here). ISPs are looking at doing the samething (article here). And Netflix decided to increase their prices if you want streaming and DVDs. (article Here)>.

First, let me discus the Netflix part. Netflix, for years has charged $9.99 for unlimited streaming of videos as well as unlimited DVDs by mail. Ok, so not quite unlimited DVDs. At that price point you can only have 1 at a time, but you can keep it as long as you want. That is a good deal. but now they are increasing their prices to $7.99 each (before it was $7.99 for streaming, plus $2 for DVD. or $9.99) And this can only hurt the company. Because any time you increase prices, especially by that much over such a short period of time, you're going to piss off people. (see also the anger people expressed when they heard that Xbox Live was going up in price to $60 a year. or about 83 cents a month).

What I don't get is their reasoning. They want to charge more for DVDs, when they have said so themselves that more and more people are streaming video over the internet. isn't that going to kind of kill that portion of the business? especially when someone can just go to Walmart or McDonalds or their local supermarket (or about a million other places) and get a DVD from Redbox? Sure it would cost more if you kept the disc for a month ($28-$31 VS $7.99) but there is also the convenience of getting the DVD right away and not having to wait a day or two to watch it, then another couple of days while it goes back and another one arrives. and people are willing to pay for that. Raising prices usually is not a problem with people. Just ask long running MMOs like Ultima Online and Everquest. But basically doubling them overnight is stupid.

Of course also stupid is the reaction most people have over this. Seems most people who are complaining don't realize that it is not an over all price increase. if all you use are the streaming videos, you actually save money because now it will cost you $2.00 less. But like most people in this country, they react first then learn later and are complaining just from headlines and not bothering to read the article.

Now onto the ISPs and cell providers switching to a metered data plan (that is what I aminly wanted to post about, but I was reminded about it in an article about Netflix raising it's prices, is I figured I better cover that too.) The plan is to go from the current Unlimited plans, where you are charged for the speed, but not the usage, to charging you for the amount of data you use. Because this is clearly 1999.

Don't get the reference? Here is what I mean. When I first got online, I had 6 options. Don't bother asking the prices, because I don't remember. I could use 100 MB, 250 MB, or unlimited MB a month, and it came in 28.8K and 56K flavors. Those were the plans. Remember this is back in the day when Broadband was first becoming available to customers. Living in a rural area, if we wanted internet, it was over dial-up (BTW. Broadband access is still an issue out here. I am paying for 256Kbps, and only getting about 30 because I am on the extreme edge of my ISP's service) and if you wanted to not tie up your phone line, it cost extra a month to have another line installed. I went with Unlimited because I didn't want to be charged the higher rated that came with going over my limit.

and now it seems that ISPs are going back to that. For quite a few years bigger companies have had data caps. limits to the amount you can Download. but there was no penalty if you went over your limit. you just had your service slowed down a lot. annoying, but makes sense, and I don't think anyone had too much of a problem with it.

And the worse is the structure they are using. I remember reading the prices of some companies, but can't find them now, so don't quite me on this. But if I remember this right, one of the bigger ISPs is planning on charging $50 for 50 GBs of data usage (no word on speeds). Don't use all 50Gb, you threw away some money (kind of like Cell phone talk time plans). Not sure how much it costs if you go over that. but according to Netflix, that is about the same as watching 50 hours of streamed video from them. I know a lot of people who canceled their cable or didn't get it to begin with because Netflix was the cheaper option. but if it costs as much to watch a little over 2 days of video a month, they will be switching to cable. and that isn't taking into account YouTube videos, checking Facebook and Twitter, and the hundreds of other things we all do every day online. that is all included in that 50Gbs.

I'm sure most people will think the same thing as I did when I switched to my current cell phone plan (unlimited everything but talk time. 300 minutes of that) "I will never use that in a month. a year maybe, but not a month." and for most that is right. for others, it sucks, and I didn't see any option for unlimited use.

Ideally, they would do something like what my former ISP did when they changed their pricing structure. They gave me a choice; keep my current speed and pay less, or keep my current price and get faster internet. I think for everyone I'm talking about here, that would be the better option.

I think the thing that annoys me the most is the reason. A metered pricing structure like this made sense in the early days of the internet. As companies expanded their coverage and built up their infrastructure, they had to take a metered approach. but now that isn't really an issue. The reason is more because of greed. I think I've talked about my dislike of stuff being done for the reason of greed before. They want to punish the majority for the crimes (high usage) of the few. and that doesn't make sense. Plus what about people who sign up at lower price points (I know there were some listed, but like I said, I don't remember what they were) people who go over with out even realizing it. now all of a sudden they are being penalized. and by an outdated pricing structure.

And all in the name of greed. With a new tech, this might make sense. but it is the same tech that we have all been using for the last 10 years or so. This is simply being done in the name of greed.

So Comics.com has apparently become part of Go Comics. Which isn't a big deal by itself. I did have to change some links in the side bar, and there are some posts that don't work now (I'll have to find and fix those. Fortunately I download most of those strips. unfortunately they are on the system that crashed a year ago) No big deal. Those are miner annoyances.

What is stupid about it is 2 things. One, the site isn't as good. I've always had trouble with the Go Comics site. It doesn't load right and it just doesn't look as good as Comics.com did. But the biggest problem I have with it is the fact that, for the most part, there is only a 30 day archive for everything! on Comics.com you could go all the way back to the beginning of some strips and read all of them. For example, Luann had every strip since January 1999 available. if you want to do that with Go Comics, you have to pay for it.

There are some that have (or had. haven't checked them for a while) bigger archives. like Dick Tracy. but for the most part the lack of a bigger archive is insulting to fans. New fans can't go back and read the archives, and older fans can't re read favorite strips. And what if you were unable to read the strip for more then a month? you're screwed unless you pay. no catching up on your favorite strips if it has been longer then that.

the truly stupid part is that Dilbert.com seems to be unaffected. Is this because Comics.com didn't actually host the site, or is it to going to change soon. who knows.

Just more proof that more comic artists need to go indy and start their own sites

UPDATE: Seems that the archives have been fixed now. Don't know how far back you can go on everything, but I know you can go back a couple years at least on Get Fuzzy, and it is possible more will be added as time goes on. Still a crappy site that I always have trouble loading though. the site loads fine. the comics I go there to read? not so much

Well, my new phone is on it's way. or will be since I am typing this at 10:30 PM and I doubt Best Buy will do anything with the order till tomorrow morning. I was thinking about getting the Samsung Intercept. I like the slide out keyboard. And it is the only one available at Walmart. Not our Walmart, but some Walmarts. And I can order it from the website. but then I decided to check Best Buy.

since I am switching from Verizon to Virgin Mobile for my carrier, I used their site to find the phone I wanted (which is why I was going to go with the Intercept) and on there they also had the LG Optimus V. yes, the fact that it is called the Optimus did interest me. I admit. I am a Transformer fan. And every review I read said it was the better phone. no slide out keyboard, but sill the better phone overall. but Walmart didn't carry it so that helped me choose.

But Best Buy did.

So I had to make a choice. Either way I could get it here by Friday or Tuesday (remember, Monday is Memorial Day) and in the end, brand loyalty won out. My last 3 phones have been LGs, and other then wearing them out, losing them, or dumping half a gallon of water on them, I have had no problems with them.

And it is named Optimus.

I just wish I could get it in Red and Blue, but Black is good. I'll just call it Nemesis Prime.

so today is supposed to be the end of the world. At 6 pm to be exact. not sure how that was decided on. Have yet to find anything explaining that. Also, what time zone? Since the guy that figured this all out lives in California, I'm guessing it would be Pacific Time, so the end of the world would be at 8 PM here in Minnesota. Of course if it is 6 PM in Israel (not sure which time zone that is) then it would be noon here.

I've read the reasoning for all of this. Got to say, it was an interesting read. First time I've heard of Day Age Theory being applied to the end of the world. For those that don't know, Day Age is a theory used to try to match up Creation Theory with Evolution Theory. The theory, usually used by Theistic Evolutionists, says that each day in the creation story was actually 1000 years. the reasoning behind this is the verse in the Bible (2 Peter 3:8) that says "...With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day." (NIV)

The thinking behind the world ending today is because 2011 is 7000 years after the Flood (Using the times given in the Bible. not sure if this is accurate or not) This is actually year 7001, but since there was no year 0, that apparently makes this year 7000 after the flood. That part I understand. The reason it is supposed to be 7000 years after The Flood is because God said to Noah that he would destroy the world in 7 days (well, 7 days from when He told Noah that) and so some people figure that means 7000 years later.

Next part is the date. Apparently today lines up on the Hebrew calender with the day that God sealed the door on the Ark. It is also apparently the day before the day of Pentecost (When the Disciples received the Holy Spirit) We know this because apparently Jesus was crucified on April 1st. Or at least that is what the guy that came up with all of this thinks.

That's right folks. The first part is based on some form of science. Whether the science is right or not, it is still science. IF The Ark happened in 4990 BC, then this would be 7000 years later. IF the Hebrew Calender is right, then this would line up with when the Ark was sealed. But then it leaves the realm of Science. While we know that Jesus died during Passover, there is know way of really knowing exactly when. and even if we could figure out what date the Last Supper was, there is some debate about what day he was actually crucified. the Church says on Friday (Good Friday) but I've read research that might indicate that it was on Tuesday or Wednesday. If that part is true, then the would should have ended a few days ago. And since we don't know what day He was crucified on, there is no way of accurately knowing what date Pentecost occurred on.

They might be right. I don't know. If you are reading this, might not be a bad idea to go to confession or something. Do what ever your faith says is needed to get into Heaven. Just in case. But personally, I don't think it will happen. Not today at least. the Bible says in 2 Peter 3: 10 "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief..." (NIV) There are other verses about this, but I don't remember them. The point of them though is that no one but God (and obviously Jesus) knows when the end will come, so we need to be ready at all times.

So may be this guy is right. Maybe he isn't. Here and Here are a couple of good articles I found. Read them and decide for yourself. Personally I say the Bible is right an all these people that predict the end of the world on specific dates is wrong (He already said it would all end in 1994 and was wrong.) but just like you would want to be ready to prevent a thief from entering your home, I think any one reading this should be ready for the end to come. However your faith dictates.

Well this sucks.

At work tonight, while cleaning, I accidentally spilled water on my pants leg. Unfortunately one of the pockets that got wet was the one I keep my cell phone in. When I went to dry it off, the phone died. Thing is I don't know if it was because the water fried it or if it was because the battery died (it was almost dead anyways.)

I have it charging right now, so I will know in the morning if it is shot or not. If it is, I have 2 options. I can try to find my old phone (same phone. lost that one so I got my current one, then I found it) or I can go buy one. Was planning on using part of my tax return to do that anyways, just wish I didn't have to do so before I got it.

I will be digging my old one out if this one is fried anyways. I was planning on using it as a fancy hi tech pocket watch once I got my new phone. but again, I would rather use my current one until I get the new one. If nothing else, I will have to get some contact info from some people.

the really sucky thing is that I was planning on going to Marshall on Tuesday to get the Kollectors Edition of Mortal Kombat. Unfortunately the money I was going to use to buy that might be going towards a new phone. I'll still be able to get the game itself at Walmart on Tuesday, but I want to cool stuff the Kollectors Edition comes with.

Wrestlemania 27 predictions

With Wrestlemania 27 only a few hours away, it's time to make my predictions. and since there is no competition this year, I win the 12 pack of soda!!!! (was going to drink it anyways, but this way it is officially mine :) Had to cancel this years Mania party due to water in the basement, but at least I won't run out of soda for a while. Got 6 12 packs. that ought to last me a week or two)

KANE, BIG SHOW, SANTINO MARELLA and KOFI KINGSTON VS THE CORRE
Glad they took Vladamir Koslov out and put Kingston in, especially after Wade Barrett defeated Kingston to become the IC Champion. Over all though this match feels thrown together. I'm guessing a win for the faces, with Big Show pinning Barrett.

SHEAMUS (C) VS DANIEL BRYAN--UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP
I really want Bryan to win this one. Unfortunately I don't think he will. Vince likes big guys so I wouldn't be surprised if Sheamus retains. Plus it is a given that there will be a feud between Sheamus and Triple H some time after Mania. If Bryan regains the belt, then it will be a sign that Triple H VS Sheamus won't be happening.

SNOOKI, TRISH STRATUS, AND JOHN MORRISON VS DOLPH ZIGGLER AND LAY-COOL
Proof that this event will soon be called Entertainmentmania (WWE apparently doesn't want anyone using Wrestling in any way) why else would a f list celeb like Snooki be on the show. Unfortunately that also means that she will win. Not Trish or Morrison, but Snooki. They will do all the work, but she will be the one getting the pin.

REY MYSTERIO VS CODY RHODES
I'm thinking Rey will win this one. Hopefully this won't be the end of this fued though. I really like the whole "Phanotm Of The Opera" thing Rhodes is doing and wnat to see it continue. Maybe have it end with a Mask Vs Mask match. Maybe they could mix in a few matches with Sin Cara when he debuts as well.

RANDY ORTON VS CM PUNK
Not sure who should win this one since both men deserve the win, but I'm guessing Orton will. As a heel, it is Punk's job to win matches on the show and at smaller PPVs. But at the big shows, it is Orton's turn as a face to defeat the bad guys.

JERRY LAWLER VS MICHEAL COLE
This will be only slightly less one sided then Vince McMahon VS Bret Hart at last year's Mania. and that is simply because Jack Swagger and Stone Cold Steve Austin will be involved. Lawler will win his first ever Wrestlemania match.

TRIPLE H VS UNDERTAKER
Like there is any doubt here. It's Wrestlemania. the best Triple H can hope for is a draw. It's going to be Taker.

THE MIZ (C) VS JOHN CENA
This one is listed second to last on Wikipedia, but lets face it, it's going to be the last match. Cena will walk out with the belt. What will be interesting will bee seeing what The Rock does for this match.

EDGE (C) VS ALBERTO DEL RIO
Would love to see Edge retain, but I'm guessing Del Rio. Maybe with some help from Sin Cara? Not sure, but I'm guessing that Edge will blame Christian some how if he loses and that will lead to a fued between them

On a related note to the last post (mostly because it involves Twitter) I am apparently begin followed by the Power Rangers! Not someone posing as a Ranger, but the actual, official twitter account of the TV show Power Rangers. And the best part is, I have no idea why! It's not some follow back thing (which is why Gamepro magazine is also following me) because I'm not following Power Rangers. And I've tried, but I don't remember any tweets I've written in the last few weeks (or ever) that involved Power Rangers. i thought maybe it was because I follow Dave Willis, who's web comic Dumbing Of Age recently did a strip involving Power Rangers (and my have been linked to a poll the Ranger's twitter account was running about who the best Blue Ranger is and why) but that was 3 or 4 days before they started following me.

The only reason I can think if is because I'm awesome. Either that or they followed the link on my account back here, read about Power Force (Which I have as one of my goals for the year to start) or some of my other stuff and realized "Hey. This guy is better at writing the most of the people who write the show. We should hire him."

I'm thinking it's just that I'm awesome.

Someone I follow on Twitter posted earlier today that, while on a flight, she saw Glee for the first time and didn't like it. Her words were more colorful (it was ODB so that should give you an idea of what she said)

I'm not going to say it is my favorite sow, but I do enjoy watching it from time to time. but after I read her tweet, it got me thinking about why people like the show.

I realized that, while there are some exceptions, most of the people I know who like Glee were in band or Choir in high school. They play instruments or sing now. They have always loved music. Like I said, there are some exceptions. but for the most part, music has been a major part of the lives of people I know who like the show.

Wonder if that is why so many people like the show.

A little bit ago, Jeph Jacques, creator of the web comic Questionable Content (BTW, you can follow him at @jephjacques) was talking about how he gets annoyed when people ask him how to make money with webcomics or didn't do a web comic because it wasn't a good way to make money.

I admit, early on when I was working on Adventures Of Jim And Bob, I thought about this question. How can I make money off of this. Not because I wanted to quit my job and do Jim and Bob for a living, but because I figured "why not." Why not see if I can make a few bucks off this. If I make enough to cover the cost of ad and pro accounts and stuff like that each month, great. if not, oh well. If I get to the point where I can do it for a living that would be awesome, but if not no big deal.

That's the great thing about sites like Cafe Press. A lot of web comics I read, especially ones that have been around for a while, order cases of t-shirts and other merchandise and handle shipping themselves, meaning they have to have the merchandise and storage space for it before they can sell it. With sites like Cafe Press, you can let someone else worry about that. You don't make as much money, but you make a bit, don't have to worry about how to store stuff, don't have to worry about packaging and shipping, and don't have to worry about raising the money to order the stuff in the first place. You just send in the logo or what ever you want on the merchandise, chose what type, sizes (if applicable) and colors and let someone else handle the other stuff. Like I said, you don't make as much, but it is a good way to get started. and if you do start selling lots and having lots of readers each day, most of them offer deals for the "store owner" (you) so you can get your stuff cheaper for conventions or something. like handling packaging and shipping yourself.

In the end, the reason I stopped doing it wasn't due to lack of a feasible business model, but laziness. Kind of hard to over come that some times. Might start it up again, but if I do, I will start working on how to make money off it for the very same reason. just to see if I can.

Well this sucks

Since the first big snowstorm of the year in late November, I've only had 4 weeks where I didn't miss a day of work due to snow or drifting. Of those I lost 1 day due to problems with my truck and I lost enough hours to equal a full shift, so basically I've gone 3 weeks without missing a day. And 3 of those weeks were in a row in January.

I was looking at a fourth week until Saturday, when I missed a few hours due to visibility. And that was the end of that streak.

Late Sunday, it started snowing and was windy. Everyone was snowed in yesterday, although I didn't have to work anyways. Today, everyone was able to get into town, but will have to find someplace to spend the night. I walked about 1/3 of the way down our (1/2 mile long) driveway. In that distance, I found 6 spots that could cause me trouble. Knowing that the rest of the driveway is going to be worse, I turned around to get home and call into work.Int he 20 or so minutes it took me to get that far, my tracks had largely disappeared.

I could have, maybe gotten to work. It would have required me to maintain a steady speed and a straight line the whole way. In other words, I would have to be The Stig.

And now I just heard that they are pulling the plows at 2, so the driveway might not be cleared tomorrow either.

Looks like I'll be paying for 3 weeks of not missing a day by missing two this week.

Thought this was kind of funny

To celebrate the release of the Green Hornet movie on Friday, SciFi is showing the entire Green Hornet series from the 60's (Except for the crossover episodes with Batman, which is too bad. those are about the only episodes of Batman I haven't seen)

In the third episode there is a group of people who are committing crimes and making it look like the Green Hornet is responsible. There is also a guy who, using a computer, can predict every detail of these crimes before they happen. Here is the funny/cool part. When Brit (Green Hornet's secret Identity) went to talk to this guy, it turns out that the computer is in fact the Bat Computer! No wonder it is so good. Batman made it!

Or they just reused the same prop, but it was still kind of cool too see it somewhere other then the Batcave.

I'm a bit mad at my parents right now.

They like watching Extreme Makeover Home Edition. Apparently last night Kurt Angle was on the show. They know I am a fan of Agles, and even if I wasn't, they know I like pro wrestling. So did they call em and say it was on, or record it so that I could watch it today?

Nope.

They didn't even mention that he had been on it. They told me when Big Show was on, but not Angle.

First not telling me when Steve Wozniak was on Dances With The Stars, which is the only reason I would have watched the show, and now this. Definitely going to have to teach them a lesson. I'm thinking I won't show them the cutest pic of a friend's new baby. that will teach them.

Also, how cool is it that Chrome's spell checker has Wozniak in it!

I'm watching Donut Paradise on Travel Channel right now, and they are talking about an "Iconic" donut shop in Seattle, Top Pot Donuts.

If this place is iconic, how come I've never heard of it.

I had a few problems with the place. I've never been there, but I'm not sure I would want to either.

First, the people they talked to all seemed to think they were Primus' gift to the donut world. They were talking like they thought they were the only ones making donuts like they were, but the problem is I didn't see anything different then what I when I was working in the bakery. Actually I take that back. I actually cut out the donuts by hand, while they were using a machine to cut them out (Despite claims buy one of the bakers that they do everything completely by hand, unlike other places where a person never ouches them.

Second, I can't tell from watching it, but don't see what is so special about them. They may be great tasting donuts, but they didn't look like they were any different from any other donuts. the only unique thing about them is that the dough mix is made for them and no one else, but even that looked and sounded like a standard mix. The glazes, frostings, and fillings sounded and looked like ones you can get pretty much anywhere.

Third, the place looked more like a rester aunt, which it kind of is but not a coffee shop. When I think coffee shop, I think someplace smaller, inviting, and comfortable. This place looks more like some fancier rester aunt. When I was watching it, I was expecting them to show some chef from Top Chef running the kitchen. The place needs to be a little bigger then some coffee shops since they roast their own beans and have the bakery in the back for making donuts, but front seems to big and fancy. looked nice, and if it was just the first floor it would have been fine, but it seemed to big.

fourth, the thing that annoyed me the most is the donuts. from the sounds of it, their most popular donut is the Old Fashioned Donuts. Problem is, they looked like they were over cooked. Splitting like they did is normal in Buttermilk Donuts, but it didn't show them putting buttermilk in them, and usually when someone makes buttermilk donuts, they are marketed as butter milk donuts. most old fashioned, cake donuts that split like that are because they are over cooked.

And finally, if they wanted to talk about an original and iconic donut shop, why didn't they go to Voodoo Donuts?

I think I need to stop watching House for a while.

Last night (Actually it was this morning since I went to bed around 2) I had a dream. The dream was a buddy cop film staring Martin Lawrence and Will Smith. At first I thought it was Bad Boys 3, but they were meeting for the first time, so it wasn't. Plus Will Smith's characters seemed to be modeled after Will Farrell's in The Other Guys

After they met, apparently it wasn't going over well with test audiences because they were replaced...with House and Wilson. not the actors who play them, but the actual characters of House and Wilson.

I woke up before the dream finished (stupid alarm clock) but hopefully I will have that dream again, It was a good movie. I want to see how it ends

I was reading about the different mental problems I have (I like to know what I'm up against). In case anyone is keeping score, it is ADD (I'm not hyper enough to have the H) Depression, and Dyslexia. (actually it is Dyscalculia, which apparently isn't in Blogger or Chrome's spell checker, but Blogger's thinks it is close to Schoolgirl for some reason. Most people don't know what Dyscalculia is, and I usually don't have time to explain it, so I just say Dyslexia instead.) While reading about ADHD, it said that one possible cause is ingesting Sodium Benzoate. After reading that, I happened to look at the label for a bottle of Mountain Dew that I just finished and what is the first thing I see?

New Stuff 2011--Week 0

Man I need to get used to typing 2011. I've tried 5 times to day, but it always ended up being 2010 or 2001. not sure why.

Ok, so you might be wondering what this "New Stuff 2011" (got it that time) thing is. good question, assuming anyone actually red this site to ask that. Here is what it is. It is a column I hope to do every week covering new stuff that have written or info pertaining to my writing. At the moment, I am hoping to have at least 4 things in here each week.

ACWF All-Stars:--the first new promotion in the Wrestleverse in 5 years (UVWF is new too, but chronologically it started in 2004) ACWF is a company that could concept that could revolutionize Pro Wrestling by emphasising the sport over the entertainment.

SPW PowersurgeThe promotion that started all this is still going and features the SPW Heavyweight, Faction Wars, and Women's title.

UVWF Hardcore--That's right, UVWF has it's won show. It took over BTP's time slot after Bring The Pain closed.

SPW Anarchy--the second(but no less important) SPW show, which features the Continental, Tag Team and Hardcore title.

In case anyone is Wondering, HOH still replaces Anarchy once a month, and of course there are still PPVs. And the Reboot is still going on, but I figured that, since yesterday was the first Sunday of the month, it would have been a SPW PPV day, so it is a good time to start doing shows again. hopefully I will be able to do 4-5 a week, and like always they will be posted the day after they "happen"

There will also be other stuff mentioned here as well, any time I write and post other things. might be a stand alone short story (like I could write something like that ofter) might be part of a current series, or it might be something else entirely. either way it will be mentioned here.

I just finished watching episode 1 of the new season of Top Chef and I had to comment on it.

Season 8 brings back past chefs who were eliminated in their season. The elimination challenge for this episode was to improve on the dish that got you eliminated in the first place. The person who was told to pack their knives was Elia Aboumrad. According to the judges, there was no improvement from the original dish and the red snapper she used was raw. She said she was going for Medium, but she also said she never tested any of them to see if they were done. After she was eliminated, she said that it was a slap in the face to be eliminated and that she had been humiliated by the judges. She went on (online) to call head judge Tom Colicchio a sell out, saying he had changed and that no one liked him anymore.

As far as her blasting Tom, I can neither confirm nor deny them. Don't know the guy. never met him. so I would have no idea if what she said about him is true or not. but I do know this. According to the judges, she didn't improve the dish, there by essentially forfeiting the challenge. She didn't check to see if the fish was done, which is a rookie mistake and not one that someone competing to be Top Chef should have made. Those right there are enough of a reason to eliminate her as far as I am concerned. She walked into the competition convinced that she hadn't done anything wrong int he first place, and then continued that attitude with the challenge. If I had been a judge, I would have sent her packing as well.

The thing she needs to figure out is (other then dropping her ego) is that when you make a bad dish, even if you liked it and others say they like it, is try to figure out what went wrong and how to improve it. That is what this challenge was about. but her ego wouldn't let her do that and that is why she lost. she can complain about it as much as she wants, but in the end, the reason she was eliminated is on film for the whole world to see, and there is nothing she can do to change that.

I'm watching a House marathon on Sleuth and I realized something. How came they never show anything past season 3? Every time they do a marathon on any channel it seems they only use episodes from seasons 1-3. If a network has House as a normal part of their schedule between episodes of other shows, they only seem to show the first 3 seasons. Every once in a while episodes from Season 4 will show up, but for the most part it is all seasons 1-3.

Not that I am complaining. After all, a House marathon is never a bad thing, even if I've seen some of these episodes several times. I just wish that they would show more of them (or do more marathons. like a 24/7 network of just House. Maybe with some Sherlock Holmes movies and shows thrown in for variety.)

Got some good news when I got to work today. my current nemesis, The Moron, quit!!!! someone more powerful, The Power Hungary Idiot, has already taken her place as my main nemesis at work, but like everyone else who I have fought against, I will defeat her too.

Needless to say, with her gone, everyone was more relaxed and happy. It was busty since we have Chicken on sale, but it was a good night. In fact, only one thing really was bad about it. We got a late start cleaning so we got done later then normal. Between a busy day and something that left me exhausted mentally (more on that after I eat. The McRib I got is calling me and saying "EAT ME!!!!") I got McDonalds (Mmmm. McRib) When I got to the pay window I realized that they messed up and charged me for a medium instead of the large meal I wanted. Easy enough to fix. They had already poured my med drink, so when I got to the pick up window, they asked if I wanted the med soda too, since they couldn't use it this late at night. I said ok.

Unfortunately they had hit the wrong button again and given me Coke. I asked for Powerade. Not complaining, because I got free Coke, which was good since I was tired, but I wanted Powerade. Oh well.

With only a few more hours before I go to bed, if that is the worse that happens today, I'm not complaining to bad. ad after what happened yesterday (more on that later probably) it was a nice change of pace.

I mentioned I would talk about some stuff the other day and here is it.

About a week ago, on CNN or MSNBC or some other station, one of the people that they gave an hour long show to (sorry. it was a week ago and I didn't really care enough to remember who did it.) dedicated an entire show to bashing formor president George Bush. then, on Veterans Day, the editorial cartoon in the Star Trib was essentially the old "George Bush Is An Idiot" thing that was so popular early in his first term as president 10 years ago.

Other things of this nature that have annoyed me since the last election is stuff like the OpEd piece I mentioned in the last post that was apparently complaining about Republicans simplebecause they were Republicans. Then there have been at least 2 items written and published (in Italics because it surprised me, even for editorials) in the Washington Post that called anyone who voted for conservatives in the last election idiots. It actually said that in one of them! If it was a letter to the editor that would be one thing, but this is someone on staff writing about it! Even as an editorial that is unprofessional.

I think what it boils down to is simple. Liberals in the news media don't really have anything to work with. They can't understand why liberals lost so badly int he elections, and the only thing they can think of is bringing up jokes from 10 years ago, reminding people how bad things were with Bush in they White House, and name calling!

We have been seeing this for years, and I have mentioned this before. When the Democrats get elected, they become big cry babies. They don't get their way, they throw a hissy fit. They don't like a plan to do something like fix social security, but they don't have a better plan, they just go around telling people how bad the Republican plan is. They call people names and it is fine, even if they are comparing someone to Hitler, but when someone else does the same thing to one of their own, it is a horrible sin. They take over and start doing what they want, regardless of what the people that elected them want, because they can.

I'm not saying that this is true of all Democrats or all Liberals. I'm also not saying that the other side of the aisle is any better. All I'm saying is that maybe some of these people, both in the news media and those chosen to run our states and country, need to grow up a bit before they start doing jobs that require the maturity level of someone over the age of 15

I thought about posting this yesterday, but decided not to for a reason that should be clear by the end.

Yesterday was Veterans Day, a day where we honor those who have fought to protect the freedoms that we enjoy. And of course there were plenty of people out there on Twitter, Facebook, the Blogosphere, and everywhere else thanking Veterans for doing exactly that.

The letters to the editor page of the Star Trib was pretty much entirely thank you's to vets (except for the editorial cartoon, which I might talk about later) but it was the last one that bugged me. After giving a brief history of Veterans Day, the writer then went on to talk about war and basically it turned into an Anti-War protest.

On the OpEd page, there was one that was about how the recent elections will hurt Vets the most. it seems that several of the people in charge of committees dealing with Veterans were Democrats who lost their elections and will replaced by Republicans. Obviously the Republicans will do more harm the good (at least according to the writer) and it is the Vets that will suffer because of it.

Here is the reason I have a problem with these. Actually there is two problems with the OpEd piece. I'm not saying the guy is wrong, the new guys in charge might be worse then the old guys, but at least give them a chance. And if you are going to complain about them (as far as I can tell, it is simply because they are republicans. again, more on that in another post) at least give evidence to back up your claim instead of just evidence of why the old guys are so good.

The main reason I have a problem with those, and the reason I didn't post this yesterday is this. The people who wrote those (and I'm sure plenty of other similar items) used Veterans Day as a means of getting their political message across. Maybe it is Anti-War. Maybe it is Anti-Republican. Either way, it is a political message and has no purpose being spread on Veterans Day. Veterans Day is about honoring the men and women who fought to protect the freedoms we enjoy (as I said before) and not about furthering agendas.

Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against them saying these things. As I have said before I am a strong believer in the first amendment. But as the saying goes, "With Great Power Comes Great Responability." Yes, we should be free to say what we want, but in order to have that right you should have common sense enough to know what to say and when to say it. Had those items appeared today I would not have a problem with the, but Veterans Day is not the day to be giving political speeches.

While recommending some music to a friend I realized something. Most of my music collection (at least the music on my computer, which is the stuff I listen to the most) is Metal or Punk, or some off shoot of those genres. There is some Celtic music, mostly instrumental or folk for when I need something playing in the background but don't want to be distracted by lyrics. There is also some classic rock, mostly Eric Clapton or Santana, for pretty much the same reason. As far as the stuff I listen to a lot, it's metal or punk. Or Johnny Cash.

You read that right. In my main play list, I groups like Metallica, Project 86, Flogging Molly, The Clash, and Abney Park. and mixed into all that is Johnny Cash. And the reason should be obvious.

It's Johnny Cash.

Do I really need to explain it beyond that?

Writing Month--November 2010

Another year, another NaNoWriMo. Lat year was another unofficial year apparently, but I typed 7649 words. Not great, but better then I did on 2008. Hopefully this year I will do better.

As for my projects this year, once again SPW is in there. I went back and have been working on creating the definitive version of the show and working on creating the Wrestleverse as well. There were a lot of early stories that didn't turn out as well as I would have liked, so I'm going through and re-writing them or in some cases removing them all together (at one point 5 Alarm had 3 different storylines all going at the same time and all three suffered as a result) I'm also introducing new characters and some new companies to the Wrestleverse. Plus with this reboot of sorts I can go through and get character and title histories, at least as far as the time after the start of SPW is concerned.

I am also working on a series called "Phoenix". It is a spin off of sorts from Fantasy, starting here. It is about a cyborg that uses a mystical artifact to stop his creator from taking over earth. should be fun. I have it plotted out to 5 volumes at the moment, but am focusing on Vol.1 at the moment. the plot changes with each volume (at least a bit) but that is the plot for the first one. Who knows. maybe I will get really ambitous and write everything I planned to this year as well as start Vol.2

In addition to all that, I might work on some site re-design and I have to finish this years Halloween story. I started it but didn't get far before I had to stop for pumpkin carving (pics will be up soon hopefully) The site re-design is more site creation the re-design, but I will talk about that more when I actually get it done.

Finally, with no new games coming out that I am looking forward to (or more accurately that I can afford) there shouldn't be many distractions from those. Just Smackdown VS Raw 2011, maybe some Left 4 Dead and Red Dead Redemption and Dead Rising 2: Case Zero. Lots of games, but they all tell fairly decent stories, so I consider them more research then wastes of time.

Update: 11/1 Word Count: 0. Post is up. Time to get writing. There will be no distrac....Oooo. Sci Fi movies all day on AMC and Top Gun at 7. Doctor Who marathon on SyFy and Psych Marathon on Sleuth. Damn

Update: 12/1 Word Count: 1352. Well, could have been worse. Could have been better. NaNoWriMo is over and I wrote 1352 words :( And they weren't even in a completed project. They were from about 5 different unfinished projects! On the bright side, at least I got an official word count in this year and I am officially a participant this year! Last night the Viking lost 29-20 to the Jets after playing a good second half of a game. Unfortunately the first half sucked and the mistakes that were made in the second ended up costing them the game. Basically the Vikings have nothing but suck this year so far. So I have the following suggestions on how to turn the team from their current suckiness into a Super Bowl winning team

Replace the QBs with ninjas
Farve has the record for most intercepted passes. Last night I think he threw 2 completed passed the entire first half. That is not good. Ninjas meanwhile are trained to throw shuriken with deadly accuracy. Imagine what they could do with a foot ball. Plus, if the other team get near the QB, they are ninjas. Even with out killing anyone, they won't be going down. They'll just jump over anyone that tries sacking them or do a flip or something. Of course that is unlikely if they take my next suggestion.

Replace the offensive line with Walls from Magic: The Gathering
The offensive line has let through far to many people over the years. it's time to replace them with Wall cards from Magic. I'm thinking Wall Of Junk because it is the strongest one I could find. If you aren't familiar with the game, Walls can't (usually, some can) attack, but you pretty much have to destroy them before you can attack any other monsters or your opponent. And with a toughness of 7, Wall of Junk can take lots of damage. Think of toughness as HP. 7 might not seem like much, but when most other cards have a strength (attack) of only 2 or 3, that makes them fairly tough. They should be able to take a few hits before going down. That should give the ninja QBs plenty of time.

Replace the running backs with robots
Especially Peterson. the guy drops the ball half the time he has it. A robot wouldn't have that problem. The only downside to robots would be that, in order to make one that doesn't get knocked down easily, they would have to be slow. But that would also mean it would be able to take several hits before going down and could probably carry half the opposing team with it, so that wouldn't really matter.

Give all Receivers stretching powers
There were lots of incomplete passes last night that were just out of reach. with Elasticity that wouldn't be a problem. Imagine a team where Reed Richards, Elongated Man, and Plastic Man were the receivers. No incomplete passes ever! And it would cut down on the interceptions since they could grab the ball a few feet from anyone trying to intercept.

Replace the defense with Orcs
Except for the Wall that is. Those four are tough enough as it is. Plus there is the possibility that i Allen was an orc, he might eat people he sacked, and that would be bad. I'm not talking the Lord Of The Rings version, but the blood thirsty killing machines from Warcraft (or Warhammer, but Warcraft is better because they can actually thing something other then "Me Hungary") The other team's offense would be to busy crapping their pants to do anything.

I'm watching an episode of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. I don't remember where he was, but one of the montage shots showed what looked like a beef commercial. A fan of commercials (and partially responsible for the fact that Thursdays are Commercial day at work) I decided to look up the origins of this great dish...only to find nothing.

That's not entirely true. I did find a thread on the Snopes message board. After I added the word Hot to my searches, I found a bunch of recipes and blog posts...all from Minnesota. Near as I can tell, everywhere else it is just a Hot Beef Sandwich (or turkey or whatever type of meat is used)

So is this just a Minnesota thing to call it a Commercial? Is it kind of like our naming everything Hotdish when most people call it Casserole? Is this in fact a Minnesotaism?

Maybe it is. After all, we are an odd bunch. I am a bit disappointed that Andrew Zimmerin (a New Yorker who moved here after marrying a Minnesotan) didn't mention commercials when he did the Minnesota episode of Bizarre Foods (he did do Lutefisk at least) Maybe it's time to spread the word about Commercials, or even create/modify/reinvent them. (the Commercial Dog I make in the deli is gaining in popularity) Regardless, come to the Deli on Thursdays, or go to your local diner and order a Commercial. You won't be disappointed.

Unless you are a vegetarian, in which case you are screwed. But I'm working on a Veggie alternative. Just taking a bit.

Well that was fast. I didn't get a story finished yesterday!

In my defense, there were a few things working against me. First, I woke up late and Bible Study went until a little after 1. I got it started, but there were a few problems even with the writing process.

First, the story I was working on was one I came up with an hour or so after I made the post about my writing challenge. Not much time, although that never stopped me before. I've done lots of good stories that I came up with only a few hours before.

Second, I felt that the story needed to be an epic poem sort of thing, like Beowulf (only lots shorter) Unfortunately I'm not that good with poetry, proven by the fact that I have only done 2 stories that are some sort of poetry. Not a big fan of it, but some times it just feels right to write a poem instead of prose.

Third, and related to the second reason, is the fact that because I'm writing it as an poem, I ran into some difficulty with the writing. The first third was fine, the last third was fine. It was the middle third I had problems with. If I were doing prose, no problem. Poetry, problem. So I will keep working on it and try to get it up tomorrow. In the mean time I got today's story started and will post it either tonight or tomorrow (I said I would write one a day, not post one a day) Should be good. It's a screenplay for a video I want to do some time before it starts snowing. Should be good.

I realized the other day that I had forgotten that it was August, and August is supposed to be a writing month.

To make matters worse, except for last November for NaNoWriMo, I haven't done much writing period, let alone much writing during a designated "Writing Month." so I decided that for the month of September I will be challenging myself to write a new story everyday.

No, that does not mean I will write 30 stories in 30 days. I took today off (it's my birthday) and I probably will be taking weekends off. If I write on weekends, it will be to finish something I didn't finish during the week or as a make up day. For example, if I wake up late tomorrow and don't get anything written before work, I probably won't get anything written since I have Bible Study/game time after work, which usually goes till after Midnight.

And remember, this is according to my sleep schedule. I usually go to bed around 2 in the morning and try not to write after 1 (or an hour before I go to bed, when ever that might be) so basically I will be writing (or could be) between 8-9 in the morning (when I usually try to get up) till 1 the next morning.

I'm not sure how long any of these stories will be. Days like tomorrow, where I have a rather limited amount of time (4 hours, assuming I wake up at 9) it will probably be some flash story or something I can crank out quickly. Other days, like next Monday and Tuesday (YAY 3 Day weekend due to Labor Day) I will probably write longer stuff, and maybe more then 1 story.

Not sure what exactly I will be writing all the time. Some of it might be new stuff, some might be finishing older stuff. I'll keep of track of what (and when) I post anything and on October 1 I will post links and a word/story count for the month. I hope to get the sequel to Pine Creak Murders, "Final Level" done, maybe some more Fantasy stories. I hope to finish The Sacrifice, a sequel to The Siege as well as a sequel to Battle At Sea. I hopefully will get more of the Wrestleverse reboot done and maybe try to get a screen play I have been working on in my head for a while. I'm also going to submit one to a magazine I found looking for horror stories. They are looking for space stories, so I think I might do some sort of "Davey Jones in Space" sort of thing with a ghost ship.

It should be interesting to see if I pull this off, and interesting to see how long I can go before I give up.

I like Heavy Metal, but I would have loved to hear the fans sing along as he made his way to the ring again.

Oh well. I'll just have to watch an ROH match when Raw is done. and be glad that the Best In The World is back doing what he does best. Kicking peoples head in :)

While doing research into the works of Edgar Allen Poe, I came across an incredible find. A rare, hand written early manuscript, dated 1844 of "The Raven." It seems to be his thoughts while proof reading The Raven. the actual lines of the poem are in pold, while his thoughts are in italics.

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary.
I pondered "what the hell am I writting? Who speaks in such a way?
Once upon a midnight dreary? What does that even mean?
And who ponders anymore? No one, that is who.

Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
That makes no sense what so ever. What are Quaint and Curious volumes of lore?

While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,

That's rather repetative. I'll have to remove some of this "ppings" before sending this to be published.

Finally I figured it out! I must have been inebriated when I wrote this. How else could Lenore be described as a beauty? While at West Point I saw horse dropping that were more attractive then her.

I must remember never again to drink before writing, for it results in senseless trip such as this. Perhaps I shall try using Cocaine. I have heard that it is believed to have reinvigorating properties that may be of use to me when writing late at night.

The rest of the page is covered in sketches. Some appear to be scenes from earlier works "The Pit and the Pendulum", "The Tell-Tale Heart", and "The Murders in the Rue Morgue", while the rest of the manuscript is covered wit sketches of nude women, some performing acts not suitable for description in a family publication.

The circumstances under which these thoughts were written are unknown. Perhaps they were written in his dieing days, when he suffered from halucinations and mental instability. Perhaps he had been high on Cocaine, which we now know is not the energizing substance they thought it was then. Whatever the case, it remains an interesting look into the mind of one of America's greatest authors.

I've said it in the past (Not here, but in my head at least) and last night proved it.

WWE is trying to make The Miz into the second coming of The Rock.

Think about it. Both started off as faces (Rock as Rocky Maivia, an in ring competitor. Miz as Mike Mizanin, his real name, an on air personality.) They both became heels soon afterwards. They both are good on the mic and extremely sure of themselves. They both can be described as charismatic bullies. The even both have "The" for their first name!

I've liked Miz for quite some time, at least on the mic. After he and John Morison split, everyone thought it would be Morrison that would make it big. I figured it would be both. Since then Morrison has held the IC title and that is about it. Miz had held the Tag Belts, the US title multiple times, has appeared on all 4 shows, sometimes in a single week, and is the only Pro to return for NXT Season 2 (Maybe it should be renamed "The Miz Show if he comes back for a third season)

Last night, he won the Raw Money In The Bank match, giving him a guaranteed title shot anytime he wants it in the next year. I have a feeling that he will cash it in and take the belt from Cena, renewing their feud from after Miz was drafted to Raw. And eventually, he will turn face.

And much like Randy Orton's, and Ken Anderson's face turns (and CM Punk's Heel turn) I can't wait to see it.

Holy Crap!!!!

I'm reading through the manual for Starcraft since the new one comes out in about a week (YAY!!!!) and I figured I should finish the first one and Brood War before I play the new one. I got to the chapter about the Protoss and am reading their history when I realized something. From the start of the Protoss' history until their first contact with the Humans, there are no paragraphs! Everything is a series of long paragraphs separated only by new headings!

Yes Non-Existent Readers, one of the most popular video games of all time makes a major grammatical error in it's instruction manual.

It's a good think the game (and pretty much every thing Blizzard makes) completely rocks of Awesomeness!!!!

Watching Stage 9 of the 2010 Tour De France, and really enjoying the one on one duel between Contador and Andy Schleck. Schleck was having a blast with a big smile on his face the whole time.

Part of that smile might be because he was taking on the reigning champ. Part of it might have been because he was having fun. Or part of it might be be because, at that poiint, he was wearing yellow. Cadel Evens, the leader going into stage 9, was about 2 minutes back, which meant that Schleck, who was 20 seconds behind Evens at the start, was the new leader, assuming he can hold onto the lead till the end. and he has about 41 seconds over Contador.

I meanwhile, was having a blast not just because it was good riding, but because it was Schleck, my pick to win, taking on Cantador, who I can't stand.

I just finished watching Taylor's Ultimate on the Cooking channel, and he was making Omelets!

I love omelets. Actually I love eggs in general. the Cook book I am slowly working on has a section for Breakfast dishes and a section for Egg dishes. That is how much I love eggs.

I missed the first few minutes, which I am guessing was just intro stuff. He went to France to learn how to make a French Omelet, then he went to Spain to learn how to make a Tortilla De Patatas, an omelet similar to a Fritata, or similar to the omelets my mom made growing up.

The thing I don't get is why go to Spain? When he made his "Ultimate" Omelet (there was no meat or cheese involved so I don't know how it can be called ultimate. Then again, I am from the Midwest and he is from New York, so that might be why) all he used was the techniques he learned in France, which he already knew how to do. He did nothing to do with the Spanish version he learned to make. Couldn't he have Incorporated that in some how? Maybe serve it with some fried potatoes or something?

Ok. With last week's episode out of the way, time for this weeks. Vera is in charge of the team this week, and they are at the Mansfield Reformatory, where Shawshank Redemption was filmed.

Dude giving the tour looks like Jason.

Everyone asked good questions during the walk through, and the set up seemed to go smooth except for one thing. Vera had no idea where to put the command center. Fortunately Adam knew a place that would work well.

That seemed to be the trend during the entire investigation. She had no strategy going in and Adam did. She struggled in a leadership role while he excelled, even though he wasn't team leader. The same happened during the analysis, where he asked for peoples opinion on evidence he found and they asked his.

Speaking of evidence, Adam and Michelle caught what looked like a human moving peaking out and then moving into one of the cells on the thermal!

In the end, the decided that Adam was safe from elimination, but everyone felt Vera should be eliminated. Since Steve, Tango, and Jason agreed, she was gone.

Not sure where they are going to be next week for the season finale, but I'm thinking the same thing I was thinking since the second week. That Adam will be the winner.

I was gone last week so I didn't get a chance to watch last weeks episode until no. So, with this week's recording on the DVR, I am watching last weeks.

Eric is the team leader this week, and they are all one big team to investigate Fort Delaware. TAPS has had some great investigations there and hopefully this one will be just as good.

Right off the bat, there was a problem with Eric. He seemed too bossy during the walk though, and wasn't a very good leader. He seemed like he was doing Steve and Tango's job during the investigation, and not leading the team. Adam and Vera asked some good questions during the walk through.

During set up, Vera and Michelle continue to improve, while Rosalyn still struggles. Over all the cadets seem to be doing good during the set up though.

Not sure if it means anything, but would anyone else be worried if they heard the team leader say something like "Glad you noticed the exit signs, because I didn't."

Adam and Vera both did great jobs and had some really good ideas during the investigation. Didn't hear much from Michelle, and I wasn't impressed with Rosalyn's skills.

They didn't find much during the review but Rosalyn did a bad job taking notes. It took them a while to find some stuff she found, which turned out to be nothing. Michelle meanwhile seemed to be too skeptical

During the reveal, Steve and Tango presented some evidence that Rosalyn had missed. It was kind of funny to hear them talking to Jason about her missing evidence and not paying good enough attention again. Didn't he and Grant chew them out early on for that same thing?

Rosalyn was sent packing, and Vera was named group leader for next week (AKA, the one I am going to watch in a few minutes.) should be interesting to see what they find at the Mansfield Reformatory, where Shawshank Redemption was filmed.

I'm watching the Doctor Who episode "The Pandorica Opens" and I noticed a few things wrong.

Q1.) Wasn't the Doctor there when Stonehenge was built? If so, why didn't he know about the Pandorica being buried under it?
A1.) Yes, but it was in a novel and might not be considered cannon. And even if it is, it is possible that it was buried before he got there.

Q2.) Why did River say no one knew how old it was when The Monk had been there when it was completed?
A2.) She didn't know about that? The Doctor might have mentioned it, but he was a bit more concerned about the T.A.R.D.I.S. being destroyed at the time.

Q3.) Why hasn't any one found a staircase or anything under Stonehenge before afte all the research that has gone on there?
A3.) Maybe there is a Perception Filter covering all that.

Q4.) Why did they not notice a Cyberman head not far from the staircase?
A.) um. a perception filer? Not sure why. Maybe they just didn't explore that part before they found the staircase.

Not sure if anyone else noticed this. I stumbled across it by accident myself, but thought it was kind of cool.

|I was just watching the Doctor Who episode "The Lodger." It is the 11th episode of Series 5 (also, the 11th for the 11th Doctor) and I hit pause during the title sequence to answer the phone. When I got back I noticed that I had paused it just as the first bolt of lightning hot the Tardis and, when it was paused, it looked just like the crack in time that has been a theme for this season.

Wonder if that was just a coincidence or if they meant to do that.

I'm watching the new episode of Food(ography)and they are talking about Cookbooks. I love cook books. My favorites are the ones that are as much autobiography as they are cook book, like the Triple D ones. I also like the Better Homes and Gardens one because of all the info in it. I have one that has a bunch of recipes from the middle ages, in middle ages English.

I don't have a copy of Joy of Cooking (bit ashamed about that) and I don't have any of Julia Child either, but the ones I treasure most are my grandmother's. One of the people they talked to on the show said that the best ones are ones that are handed down and it is true. Some are standard church cook books, and some are fairly new, but there are some from when my dad was a kid. I think there is even one she got from her mom!

The thing that surprised me is this. When we were cleaning their house after my grandparents had died, no one wanted those cook books, or really any of the kitchen equipment. They were willing the throw those out!!!!

MY grandma C was never a very good cook, but to me those cook books are priceless. Not only are they part of history, they are part of my families history. I'm sure I could go through and find notes written by her, or marks to know which recipes to make again. My grandma M is a great cook, and I hope to get some of her cookbooks when she dies as well (Hopefully it will be a long wait) and I hope to get some of my mom's some day as well. I hope to pass these as well as my own cook books onto the next generation some day too.

I has been said that Families are created at the dinner table, and that the family that eats together is the family that stays together. and these cook books make that possible. Like I said, they are not only part of history, they are part of my families history. the recipes that bring us all together.

It's Wednesday night, and that means it's time for Ghost Hunters Academy

This week the team are at the Mark twain House, and Adam and Michelle are the team leaders. They were given the option of picking their own teams, and the chose boys VS girls. Thought it was funny that Rosalyn got all defensive when she was chosen last.

On an unrelated note, I like the shirt Rosalyn and Eric were wearing. It was a GHA shirt, but it looked more in the style of a Tap Out shirt.

On a some what related note, it looks like next years winner (Karl and Susan) as well as some other guy (some investigation revealed his name is Scott) will be joining the GHI team when they come back from mid-season break

Aside from a bad choice of location for command central, I thought Adam and Michelle did ok as team leaders. Steve, Tango and Jayson didn't agree, but I thought they did good.

Vera once again had lots of personal experiences, and the investigation was good. Brett seemed reluctant to get a piece of equipment, and after the investigation, I thought it was cool that Michelle said she wasn't pleased her performance. I thought she did good, but I thought it was cool that she said that.

In the end, Brett was eliminated due to lack of tech knowledge and the fact that he didn't seem like he improved any this week. Eric was chosen as team leader next week, and both teams will be combined as they investigate Fort Delaware next week.

Uncanny X-Men #524

It came out a month ago, but as I started reading Chapter 7 of Second Coming, I decided to go back and re-read #524, because it was such a great issue. And what better way to make this an official part of the site and giving these posts titles then with a great episode and the death of a beloved character!

BTW. Spoilers are involved.

When I finished X-Force # 26, I couldn't believe they did it. I figured it would be Cable or Cyclops who died, since they were shown in the ads that said "One will fall" He wasn't there, and I couldn't believe they did it but they did.

In the middle of a war, with the mutants on the brink of extinction and Bastion and his Purifiers, as well as the Sapien League, drawing closer, they take time out for a funeral.

You would think something like that might kill the momentum of the storyline, but it doesn't. The wait for each new chapter kills it more then this does. And the timing works. The first act of the storyline is over, time to catch their breath before Act 2 starts.

I like how some people thought Hope could bring Kurt back to life, and how Cyclops seemed a bit out of his element when dealing with what to do about his death.

Pierce is lose on Utpoia, which is, of course, bad.

Why does Bastion have a symbol like Ironman's on his chest? Is his current body built with Stark Tech or did they just decide to do it like that because it would look cool. Cause it does. Liking the sort of Archangel look he's sporting now too.

What is up with those towers Bastion is building?

The funeral was good. Didn't know that Iceman is a pastor. At least I'm assuming he is since he is running it. Several people spoke about him, but the best was Wolverine, who said that no matter what he did, Kurt never looked at him or thought of him as anything but a man and a friend. Needless to say, Wolvie is mad.

I feel sorry for whoever he takes that anger out on.

Like I said, it was nice that they dedicated an entire issue to his funeral. They didn't do that with Illyana. They didn't even do that with Superman, but they did it for Kurt. as they should have.

And with that out of the way, time for the war to continue.

Took them a few weeks, but it seems that the Cooking Channel finaly has a show featuring Julia Child!

It's possible I just always missed the ads and didn't see it in the listings, but I'm glad it is on there. How can you have a cooking network with out a show staring Julia Child?

My parents just got back. They were across the road checking out the Quonset. our neighbor, who stores some stuff in there called. apparently there is (or was, it has dried) water everywhere. They went to check it out and sure enough there was lots of damage.

The stupid this is that it was fine until some "Professionals" started re-shingling it. They aren't done since it has rained the last few days and they couldn't work on it, but the plastic or what ever it is that they put down under the (eventual) shingles is supposed to keep out the water.

Well it didn't work too well.

They got back and apparently Al (the neighbor) was right. Normally I wouldn't care too much, but 75+% of everything I own is in there. my couch, recliner, dressers, TV (Which I was going to replace anyways, but that is beside the point) books, video game stuff, ect is all in there. Some of it can't be replaced, and others I can't afford to.

The worse part, for me, is that my parents don't seem to care. When they were telling me they seemed to be rather indifferent about that face that the vast majority of my possessions may be ruined. Yes they are just things, but they are my things, and for someone who had hoped to get a new place soon, that means that if it all is gone, I basically have what is currently in the dungeon. If this is all I have left, I essentially have a sparsely decorated loft.

Everything seemed to be going so good. I found my wallet yesterday (!) and things seemed to be going good yesterday and today. Now this. Why do I get the feeling that this is a sign of how my day will go.

Great way to wake up.

Just finished reading Green Lantern #54 and I'm liking where it is going. Looks like the main lanterns from each faction are going to be teaming up to protect the Entities from someone with the power to capture them. It already has Paralex and Ion, and I'm guessing it is going after Predator next, since that would cover the main 3 lanterns (Sinestro, Hal Jordan and Carol Ferris, respectively)

Also, looks like Arisia's anger about Sodam Yat not being remembered with the other fallen lanterns after Blackest Night was pointless, because when the thing took Ion from him, he was left on Daxam, in his Ion costume, with his power ring on.

Also, Atrocitus in NYC. no good can come of that. Weird seeing him (Trying) to act like a hero though.

The storyline is good so far, but I have one question. When Atrocitus made his blood map to look for the entities, why was Ophidian (the Orange Lanterns, lead by Larfleeze,) in Minnesota? What possible reason would the entity for Avarice in Minnesota?

I'm watching an episode of Foodography and it is about cooking with fire. (And they showed Viking Fans when they were talking about tailgate parties. as they should)

The problem is when they were talking about Barbecue. Most of the examples they talked about and showed were refereed to as BBQ, but they weren't. They were examples of Grilling! and these are "Experts" that are saying this!

I cringed every time they said it until they actually started talking about actual Q.

YAY!!!! Time for a new episode of Ghost Hunters Academy!

I'm guessing Eric will be eliminated. Guess I will find out if I am right in an hour.

They are at Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum this week. Taps was there back in early 2008. I vaguely remember it, but that is more because I slightly recognize the buildings. Don't remember any of the evidence or experiences they had.

LOL. Adam said he was excited because the place held alot of lunatics in the past and that was really great.

Thought it was good that, on the drive there, the cadets started writing stuff down when Steve and Tango started telling them where they were going.

During the walk through, neither of the team leaders asked what rooms had power or anything, which lead to them looking all over the place looking for power during set up.

The investigation was pretty good, with some decent evidence. At one point, Vera said she heard a voice whisper her name and felt a breeze, but they didn't investigate it (At least they didn't show that on the show) This was backed up in the analysis when they caught her voice on the audio recorders at that same time.

At one point, Steve and Tango climbed a ladder and started blowing cigar smoke into a room (Tough job, standing around smoking cigars.) Adams team (Adam, Vera, Brett) Searched out the smell and found it (and Steve scared them) Rosalyn's team (Rosalyn, Dan, Eric, Michelle) smelt it, but Rosalyn dismissed it. Eric and Michelle investigated anyways and found the open window and ladder. Michelle also said she smelt coconut, but that might have been Vera or Rosalyn's perfume or something.

At one point, Adam's team were stopped by some bats and Steve and Tango were laughing their butts off watching it. I wonder if they were having flash backs to a time Jay and Grant sent them into an area with lots of bats while on an investigation.

In the end, Michelle was chosen as a team leader next week, and Adam was asked to be team leader again. Dan and Rosalyn were on the chopping block. Rosalyn seemed to be too skeptical, dismissing stuff like the cigar smoke with out investigating. She also seemed to be bossy and controlling, while also too eager to follow Steve and Tango's orders. Dan didn't do much (that was shown) the entire investigation. I think I heard him speak 3 times the entire investigation. He also urned off his audio recorder when they went to investigate a sound.

In the end, Dan was eliminated. I'm guessing it was close.

Yes I know I said Eric at the top. I was typing this during the show and that was typed before it started. I figured it should be kept there, although by the first commercial break of the actual investigation, I knew it would be Dan.

My thought on the rest of the team.

Adam--Good leader, thinks alot like Jay and Grant during investigation. Good leadership and debunking skills
Michelle--Good questions and creativity during the investigations
Brett--Film student, which could be good for tech. good investigator and analysis skills.
Vera--Did a good job investigating and seems to have good hearing. Worked well as a team and good debunking skills
Eric--Debunking and analysis. Skeptical, calling stuff as he sees it until the evidence proves him wrong.

Next week should be interesting. They are going to the Mark Twain house, which had some good evidence if I remember right, and it will be boys VS girls.

ok, that was cool.

Watching the main event, John Cena VS CM Punk, on Raw and Wade Barrett, the winner of season 1 of NXT walked onto the stage. As he walked towards the ring, the rest of the NXT rookies entered through the crowd and beat down the Straight Edge Society. They then beat down John Cena. They then beat up Matt Striker, King, the ring announcer, the time keeper, a camera man, a guy that was sent down to stop them. They destroyed the announcer's table, the barricades, the ring and the ringside area.

They then continued the beat down on Cena. Punk ran in, possibly to help Cena, but got beat down again. They finally left together and the camera showed the carnage that followed. They showed the medics helping Cena and picking the table off of King. They showed the shocked and horrified faces of the fans.

I was laughing my arse off the whole time.

It was that awesome.

To see them working together was cool. I thought it was cool when they worked together and celebrated beating Kane a few months back. This is even better, because it looks like they are invading Raw.

We haven't seen that level of destruction and unpredictability in either WWE or TNA in a long time. and I was loving every second of it.

ok, I'm an idiot.

I was all ready to watch the Twins VS the Braves, which started about 20 minutes ago (As I'm typing this) and it wasn't on 29 like the schedule said it was. "Ok," I thought. "It must have been moved to a different channel." so I did a search and all I could find that was on now was Twins VS Brewers from May 21! It was 11-0 Twins in the bottom of the 4th when I started watching, and I knew from the description that we destroyed them 15-3 But that isn't the game I was looking for!

So I went to the Twins website to see if it had been postponed or something. As the site was loading, I noticed something.

They play the Braves next week.

I was looking at the wrong week.

Sure enough a quick check confirmed that at 3 they play the A's and it will be on Channel 29.

Like I said, I'm an idiot. On the bright side, I can watch this game and then that one :)

Lol. so, officially, someone or something left Undertaker in an vegetative state, and based on Kane's promo at the start of Smackdown tonight, Taker is gone for good, and Kane has sworn to make those responsible pay.

Unofficially, Taker is at home healing from a broken orbital bone and I believe broken nose.

It is nice to see Kane with a clear direction and what should be a good storyline, and his promo at the start of the show was the best I have ever seen him do. It was also nice to see him wearing pants similar to those he wore while wearing the mask.

So why do I get the feeling that, in the end, it will be revealed that Kane was the one that took Taker out?

Season 2 of Ghost Hunters Academy started a couple minutes ago. I hit pause quick so I could read my posts about the first season and start typing this one.

Ben and Chris Smith (who can now be refereed to as Chris since he is the first Chris this time) are supposed to be back from season one, but they weren't mentioned during the intro. Maybe they will be brought in near the end as replacements. And I'm guessing that Carl and Susan will be back at some point as well.

YAY!!!! They are at Waverly Hills!!!! What a way to start the new class off on the right track.

Setup didn't seem to take long, but that was probably partially because they split the team into two and Steve and Tango showed them how to set everything up and gave them advice on where to put cameras. That means that it probably took a while, it just wasn't shown. This week.

On a related note, it was kind of funny that a camera Tango had just set up tilted down just as he was saying "Good Job" to his team and they were about to walk away.

I liked the fact that Steve and Tango worked with there teams during the investigation. Not only will it help them get to know who to keep and who to eliminate, but it also helps them learn how to investigate.

Over all, it was a decent investigation. Not the best one of Waverly, but not bad. the cadets did a good job taking notes and asking questions during the walk through. They all seemed to do good during the investigation as well. There wasn't a lot of debunking going on, but there wasn't much to debunk. They asked a lot of questions too during EVP which was good.

The evidence they found wasn't too impressive but again, it wasn't bad.

Steve and Tango felt that Rosalyn and Adam were the best of their teams this week, so they will be the team leaders next week. Natalie was eliminated due to her inability to stick with and work as part of the team. After wards she didn't seem to care because she has her own group back home and she will just keep doing things her own way.

Michelle and Vera seemed to do ok, Eric has potential but there is lots of room for improvement. Dan and Brett seem to be followers, which could be bad for them (See Ben from last semester.)

Over all, a good start to this semester. We will have to see how they remaining cadets do next week.

I'm watching Molto Mario (YAY!!! I can watch a show with Mario Batali in again! turns out I always could since it was moved from Food Network to FLN, but I really had no reason to care about anything involving FLN except for seeing Emril Live! every once in a while listed while scrolling through the programming guide. Now it is the Cooking channel. I spent a fair amount of time watching it yesterday)

He was talking about chopping up stuff (In this case, mushrooms) and he said that he didn't like chopping up stuff into little bits. That way you can't see it or taste it as well (BTW. I'm paraphrasing here) Since he is making a more rustic dish from northern Italy, big chunks make sense.

Big chunks have their place. He is making a sauce that has bigger chunks and big big flavors and in this case, big chunks are a no brainer. But if you are making something that has a more of a blended flavor to it, then small pieces are a good thing. the flavors blend more and you get a little bit of each ingredient in almost every bite. In a Marinara sauce, I wouldn't mind biting into a big piece of garlic, but I would rather have small pieces and have the flavor mixed in through the whole sauce (plus, in the case of garlic, the smaller the piece, the stronger the flavor.)

There is a place for big chunks, there is a place for small chunks. It just depends on what you are making.

On the bright side, he was cooking with a lot of butter. That is never a bad thing :)

Apparently Dixie Carter isn't to disappointed by the fact that Impact hasn't done better in it's 2 weeks against RAW on Monday nights. Nor should she be. As she has said, it's an uphill battle for them to beat RAW, and it will take time. Or there could be another reason.

I personally prefer TNA over WWE, but there is no point in watching it on Mondays. Why? Because they show a rebroadcast of it on Thursdays! That has to be hurting their ratings, because people like me will chose RAW and watch Impact on Thursday.

Until they change that and force us to chose one or the other, their ratings will never be able to match RAWs on Monday nights.

I' kind of disappointed right now.

In the past, History Channel has always done some sort of all day marathon on shows for St Patrick's day, either on the holiday, Patrick himself, or the Irish in general. This year, between the 2 History Channels (History and History International) They have a 2 hour program on later tonight, which I've already seen because they show it every year. It's a great program, but I've seen it before. And that is all they are showing.

So I check the rest of the channels. Except for a Leprechaun and Ghost Hunters Marathon on SyFy, where T.A.P.S. and GHI investigate various places in Ireland, there is nothing on all day!

is it because it's Wednesday? Do they thing that no one will be getting drunk on green beer till the weekend (or already did this weekend?) What about people like me, who are proud of their Irish heritage and want to watch shows about Ireland on St Patrick's day?

The first episode of WWE NXT was on tonight. I had alot of fun posting my thoughts on Ghost Hunters Academy and figured I would do the same for NXT. Slightly different since it is a weekly show instead of essentially a mini series, but should still be fun. And like GHA, I will be typing this up as I watch the show. If nothing else, it gets me posting at least once a week.

So far, I'm liking it. Of course that might have to do with the fact that the first person in the ring was Bryan Danielson. Opps. Daniel Bryan. That's going to take some getting use to. He's definitely the most boring looking and laid-back of the 8 rookies, but who cares. It's Daniel-Freaking-Bryan! He even came out wearing his American Dragon robe! The "Tap Or Snap" catch phrase he was forced to come up with is stolen from Kurt Angle, but it works. Looking forward to seeing how things play out between Bryan and The Miz.

During the break, Matt Stryker said that the WWE was all about respect. That is kind of true. Unless you are talking about a wrestler's past with companies not owned by WWE.

Michael Tarver was up next. the video they showed about him made him look pretty impressive. He teamed with his mentor Carlito to take on Heath Slater and his mentor Christian.

Not sure if it is his look or because he acts overly confidant and cocky, but I am have a feeling I won't be able to stand Slater.

Overall, I'm not impressed. Slater showed slightly above basic wrestling skills, and Tarver didn't really show any. The best part of the match was when Carlito and Christian were the legal men! Tarver not having much skill (or at least not showing much) isn't a bad thing in wrestling though, because he did look like he would be a good brawler. Hopefully they will do better next week. Christan and Slater won

Darren Young took on David Otunga in the next match. Young apparently is a partier and was having a blast. The Straight Edge Society looked pissed. That should be almost as interesting a pair as Miz and Danielson. I mean Bryan. Despite what Cole said, the match wasn't that impressive. Otunga won.

Got to admit, I marked out a bit when they announced the main event. Chris Jericho VS Bryan Danielson.

DAMN IT!

Daniel Bryan.

Bryan pushed Miz out of the way during his entrance and it looked like Bryan wanted to sing Final Countdown when he was on the top rope. Maybe next time.

BTW. According to the RAW ad they showed right after the ring intros, Bret Hart's accident a couple weeks ago was "Shocking and controversial." Apparently there is a new meaning to controversial. Pointless and kind of stupid. Just thought I would let anyone who actually reads this know.

liked the fact that Bryan wanted to follow the Code Of Honor at the start of the match and shake hands. Apparently Cole is going to be the heel announcer for the show. Not sure how that will work. I liked the Danielson chant during the match too. At least that is what it sounded like they were chanting.

Even though I knew there was no chance that Bryan would win, I thought Jericho might actually tap for a while there. But not that big of a shock that Y2J won.

Time for the final thoughts

Over all, not a bad start. Aside from Bryan we didn't really get to see or hear much from the rookies, but the first show was about introducing the new guys, and they did a decent job.

Can't really say anything about Justin Gabriel or whoever the hell Regal is mentoring, since they weren't there.Kind of sucks that all they got was an appearance at the beginning.

Wade Barrett looks like he is trying for some sort of Godfather gimmick. and I'm talking the Corleone Godfather, not the Ho-Train Godfather from the WWE in the 90's.

I'm not to impressed with Darren Young or Heath Slater. Hopefully they will change that in the future.

Not to impressed with David Ortunga or Micheal Tarver either, but they have the most potential over all. Tarver could be a monster type gimmick, where he goes in, beats people up, and walks away. Think most monsters, like Umaga. Not a big guy like most monsters, but still a butt kicking monster. Ortunga I can see having some sort of "i'm better then you because of my past" type gimmick. and the best part is it wouldn't be a gimmick for him!

And of course Daniel Bryan. Could have been better, but he rocked!

Now if you will excuse me, I have to go watch some of his matches. Thinking either his match against Jamie Nobel for the ROH title at Glory By Honor 4 or his Best of 3 Falls match against CM Punk at FIP's Bring The Pain event.

Or maybe both.

I'm a little worried

Tonight NXT debuts. That i'm not worried about. not much anyways. I am a little bummed because ECW was the best hour of wrestling each week, but not worried. What I am worried about is that Bryan Danielson is on it.

this is Danielson...Sorry. Daniel Bryon's chance to show the world why the fans have declared him the greatest wrestler in the world. The reason I'm worried? Because WWE has a history of not letting wrestlers do what they do best.

For proof, look at Matt Sydal and Cm Punk. Sydal, who wrestles in WWE as Evan Bourne, Has a ton of talent and did great on the Indy circuit, but has mostly been buried since signing with WWE. CM Punk hasn't been buried, but he, like Bourne, has been forced to adapt to the "WWE style."

One of the things that has been talked about since it was announced last week that Bryon would be working with The Miz. Lots of people are upset about this because Miz can't hold a candle to Bryon skill wise. But he made a good point on his blog.

Bryon, through out his career, hasn't really shown much in the way of a personality. They have said that he is the most skilled and experienced of the rookies. but he is known for his skill, not his personality. So teaming him with a man who's entire career has been about personality, should be good. but I'm worried that they will change him in more then name. sticking him with a gimmick could be good, if part of a future story line is throwing it away because you don't need it. Telling him to wrestle the WWE style, however, could be disastrous. As less of a high flier then Bourne and Punk, that shouldn't be too big of a problem, but it very well might be.

Also, I doubt his entrance music will be Final Countdown.

why do I seem to keep making people mad around me? It seems that either I'm pissing people off or I'm getting them mad at others, with out even trying! For example, my parents are now pissed at each other because I made a comment about there being no point in putting off calling in to work any longer. We have some drifts that are waist deep or deeper. Unless the plow shows up, we are stuck here for at least another day.In my defense I didn't know that they had talked about calling someone with a plow to dig us out. And dad is right in thinking that as soon as we did, by the time they finished, or we dug it all out, the plow would show up.

This and other times I've made those around me pissed points to 3 possible reasons. 1.) I can and "Pissing off those around me" to my list of super powers. 2.) Moving back home was the worst choice I've ever made. or 3.) both.

I'm reading the Wikipedia article on Depression, because this is something I struggle with and I like to know about stuff that I have to deal with. While reading the symptoms, I saw some stuff that was kind of funny. For me any ways.

1. Frequent thoughts of suicide or death
For the record, if my corpse is ever found next to a note saying "Good Bye Cruel World", call Grissom Because something isn't quite kosher. Or Monk. Or Spencer. Or Batman. Actually, call all of them. Can't have too many super-detectives.

With that out of the way, this is a hard one for me to use as a symptom. After all, I do think about death a lot, but if you have read a lot of the stuff I write you know that I kill a lot of characters. Writing horror and mystery stories involves thinking about death. It kind of comes with the territory.

2. Concentration problems
I can't really use this one as a symptom. At least not for myself. After all, it would be hard to tell if I am having problem concentrating or focusing because of depression or ADD (I'm not hyper enough to have the H in there.

3. Unexplained aches and pains
Can't really use this one either, because it is rare that I have an ache and pain that doesn't have an explanation. Mostly they are due to injuries that I didn't let heal properly. They may be due to not not stretching enough before pushing myself too far while exorcising. They may be due to spending the last 6or so years working in an industry where everything is designed for people about a foot shorter then me. Long story short, aches and pains, some times unexplained, are a daily part of life for me. and aspirin is my friend

To say I'm excited by this is an understatement. Especially by the date.

Martin Campbell will direct a live action Green Lantern movie, replacing Greg Berlanti, due for release on December 17, 2010 that will feature Hal Jordan and his first adventure as the Green Lantern. Berlanti will co-write the script with TV & comic book writers Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green. The comic books, Green Lantern: Emerald Dawn I and II, greatly influences the movie's plot with appearances from Abin Sur, Kilowog to Sinestro among other DC characters including Clark Kent and Guy Gardner. In the movie, Jordan fights villains Legion and Hector Hammond while adjusting to being Sector 2814's new protector. The role of Hal will be played by Ryan Reynolds

I can't wait till December 17! If I didn't have Brightest Day in the countdown, this would be there. And I can pretty much guarantee that, after the Tour, it will be there

I'm a bit bummed right now. Tonight, David Tennet's last episode as The Doctor aired on BBC America (it aired yesterday on BBC) and I was going to watch it once it finished since I had to work and missed the first half of the episode. Thank the matrix for DVRs.

While at work, we had Boneless Buffalo Wings on sale this week, so I bought some. I figured that I would eat those, have a beer (since Buffalo wings and beer are a natural combination) and watch the Doctor regenerate.

As I was about to open the bottle, I found out how cold it was outside.

Due to lack of space in the fridge with Christmas stuff in it, I kept my beer out in the garage. There was also some sugar free apple juice and some eggnog out there. They were both frozen, but that didn't really surprise me. What did surprise me was when I noticed how cloudy the beer looked. At first I thought it was condensation, but when I looked closer, I realize that it was frozen!

I know that beverages with high amounts of alcohol will freeze slower, and I know Finnegan's isn't too high, but I figured that it could take colder temps then that. Guess not.

Now I have to wait for it to thaw before I can drink it :(

Apparently some people are pissed at Blizzard right now. The reason? They dared to help the police caputer a drug dealer! How dare they help law enforcement!

from the sound of things, the reason they are mad is 1.) that the police didn't issue a warrent for the info and 2.) because of the ammount of info they tracked on this guy and gave to the police.

For the first one, yes. They should have waited for a warent. But they didn't need to. It was their choice to help law enforcement. while I would never let a cop search my house or car with out a warrent unless he had a reason too. (which is the law. if they have no reason to do so, just as smelling pot smoke in your car when they pull you over, they can't legally search it, your house or you and anything aquired this way should be thrown out) I would give them info if it helped them catch a criminal, because it is the right thing to do! How would they have reacted if the guy had been a child molester or a murderer instead of a drug dealer?

2.) they were shocked at the amount of info Blizzard tracks on their customers. If I remember right, you give them most of that info when you create your account! Except for IP address, he gave them that stuff. They would have been able to track his down eventually based on IP address, (which is tracked any time you do anything online and can be tracked, but is difficult to do well) the fact that he was stupid enough to update his mailing address is his own fault, not Blizzard's.

I was catching up on Penny Arcade earlier and of course they were talking about Modern Warfare 2 (can't wait till Monday when I will most likely be getting it :) ) and I saw this.

There was a full five day lag between patches on the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360; certainly, there's more to test on the 360, but that's no comfort to the millions of people whose purchases have been warped into something unrecognizable. Microsoft's sloth on this matter approaches disinterest if not out-and-out neglect.

They are forgetting the obvious reason. Jealousy. No one (ok, no one, but not nearly as many) is playing Halo 3! all the people that I know and play seemingly endless games of Halo 3 are currently playing Modern Warfare 2! PS3 doesn't have a game with the same multi player following as Halo 3 other then previous Call Of Duty games! Plus Halo3 is owned and the servers run by Microsoft. Of course they are jealous that Modern Warfare 2 is getting so much attention!

We had Christmas today with my siblings. it was nice; this was the first time since my bro's wedding almost 3 years ago that we have all been together.

amongst other things, I got House season 2 and More diners drive-ins and dives. Mom said that they were didn't have season 1 or the first book of Triple D.

I didn't really care until later when I remembered that she and Grandma went Christmas Shopping together and that they have been known to get presents that go together.

Why do I get the feeling I am getting the first book and season 1 on Thursday?
